Who Can Borrow MSU Library Materials?
- Current Students/Faculty/Staff
- Students
- Undergraduate: up to 50 items for 28 days
- Graduate: up to 50 items for 60 days
- Faculty/Staff: up to 150 items for 120 days
- MSU Alumni/Kentucky Residents (and selected counties in IL, MO, TN)
- May obtain complimentary card at the Circulation Desk
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must present picture I.D.
- Allowed up to 10 items for 3-week loan period.
How to borrow Library materials
- Current valid MSU I.D. must be presented at the time of check-out.
- Items may be renewed once online through RACERtrac (log on to "Patron").
- Items may be renewed a second time by phone (call the Circulation Desk at 809-4990) or in person.
- There is a 5-day grace period for overdue items.*
- Items that can be borrowed (Valid MSU ID card required)
- Circulation Collection
- Books available on Waterfield Library's Lower Level
- Items are checked out at the Circulation Desk on the Main Level
- Media Collection
- Video tapes, audio tapes, CD's, CD-ROM's, DVD's, etc. available in the Media Room on Waterfield Library's Lower Level
- Media items are checked out at the Media Desk
- Media items are checked out for 21 days to all users
- Course Reserve materials
- Items on reserve by instructors available at the Circulation Desk
- Items may be checked out for a limited time
- Laptop Computers
- Digital Cameras
- Items that may not be borrowed
- Periodicals
- Reference Collection
- Pogue Library Special Collections
- Overby Law Library Collection
* Items not turned in after this 5-day grace period are declared lost and a minimum $30.00 replacement charge is turned over to the University Bursar's Office. Such charges are cleared when items are returned to the library in good condition.
Renewing Library Books Online
- Go to RACERTrac. Click on the "Patron" button in the toolbar.
- Complete the form and log-in.
- Under "Charged Items" you will find a list of those items checked out, when they are due and the option to mark them for renewal.
- Remember to "Exit" from the toolbar when done.
- This may be done once. Items can be renewed a second time by phone (call the Circulation Desk at 809-4990) or in person.
