Internet Resources:
- Yahoo! Science: Mathematics - Annotated web directory, arranged by category.
- Galaxy - More comprehensive than Yahoo; annotated and arranged by category.
- Mathematics WWW Virtual Library - Collection of categorized mathematics-related resources maintained by the Florida State University Department of Mathematics
- GAMS : Guide to Available Mathematical Software - A cross-index and virtual repository of mathematical and statistical software components of use in computational science and engineering
- QuickMath - Online calculator that solves equations and does all sorts of algebra and calculus problems; queries processed by Mathematica
- arXiv.org - The premier pre-print site in physics, engineering physics, computer science, mathematics and related fields. PLEASE NOTE: this site is included in Google Scholar and can best be searched using Google’s domain-limited searches. A sample search for publications on genome uses of quantum dots might be – “quantum dots” genome site:.arxiv.org.
- Abstract Algebra Online - "Contains many of the definitions and theorems from the area of mathematics generally called abstract algebra; intended for undergraduate students taking an abstract algebra class at the junior/senior level, as well as for students taking their first graduate algebra course" (from site)
- e-Calculus Homepage (Univ. of Akron) - Calculus I tutorial written in TeX and converted to the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF); features include verbose discussion of topics, typeset quality mathematics, user interactivity in the form of multiple choice quizzes, in-line examples and exercises with complete solutions, and pop-up graphics.
- The Combinatorics Net - Individually maintained professional site; contains a variety of web directories and links, some annotated.
- Favorite Mathematical constants (by Steven R. Finch) - Essays devoted to constants from various subdisciplines of mathematics; rather arbitrarily organized by topic; some of the essays contain links to Mathcad files.
- The Electronic Journal of Differential Equations (EJDE) - “Search our archives” link provides pdf file articles from current and past issues of the journal.
- The Geometry Center (University of Minnesota) - Designed for UM students, but accessible to anyone; includes graphic and video images, downloadable software, teaching resources, course materials, student work, lab materials, interactive applications, and a web directory under “access to other web sites”.
- Geometry in Action - "Collects various areas in which ideas from discrete and computational geometry (meaning mainly low-dimensional Euclidean geometry) meet some real world applications; contains brief descriptions of those applications and the geometric questions arising from them, as well as pointers to web pages on the applications themselves and on their geometric connections; largely organized by application but some major general techniques are also listed as topics" (from site)
- The Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra - Searchable ejournal from 1996-present; provides pdf file articles and a useful array of search options.
- Number Theory Web - Collection of links to online information of interest to number theorists everywhere; choose the “things of interest” link to locate web directory.
- Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis - Electronic journal for the publication of significant new and important developments in numerical analysis and scientific computing; searchable 1993-present with pdf file articles in results.
- British Topology Homepage - Individually maintained site; “Topology Resources” link provides web directory; not annotated.
- Topology Atlas (York Univ., Canada) - Regardless of the title, this is a comprehensive on-line resource for those mathematicians and those members of the general public with some interest in topology; the “topics” option provides a set of links to other web directories in the area.
- Electronic Library of Mathematics (mathematics journals) - Thoroughly annotated alphabetical list of ejournals in math; many searchable with freely accessible articles online.
