Biographical / Historical Information: Sally (Sallie) Marshall Foulks was born on October 1, 1798 in Virginia. She was the wife of Reverend Joseph Foulks (1786-1863). She and her husband moved from Russellville, Kentucky to St. Claire County, Illinois in 1820. The couple later returned to Logan County, Kentucky in 1837. Sally died on December 13, 1879.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of a photocopied letter from Sally Foulks of Belleville, Illinois to her sister Mrs. James Marshall of Russellville, Kentucky written on May 28, 1822. She mentions being grateful to reside in region where slavery did not exist and describes social conditions in Belleville, Illinois.
