Biographical / Historical Information: The City of Mayfield was established as the county seat of Graves County, Kentucky in 1821. The city currently has a population of over 10,000 and is listed as a third-class city by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Scope and Content: Collection consists of ordinances, resolutions, bonds and other administrative legislation enacted by the city government of Mayfield, Kentucky from 1896 to 1941. The records contain information on construction projects, taxes, fees, permits, licenses, employment, utilities, city court and police records. Also included are records related to the construction and maintenance of city sidewalks and streets, bridges and sewage plants during the early half of the 20th Century.
