Biographical / Historical Information: Jack C. Tyler was the son of Captain Henry A. Tyler of Company A, 12th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment, Confederate States Army. Captain Tyler joined the Confederate Army in the spring of 1862 and served until the close of the war. He participated in the battles of Brice’s Cross Roads, Champions Hill and Harrisburg. After the war, he returned to his law practice at Hickman, Kentucky and later became county judge.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of 3x4 inch photographic prints of a twelve page letter written by Jack C. Tyler of Thrift, Texas to his grandson Earle Boone of Fulton, Kentucky on January 7, 1921. The letter describes errors made by Henry George in his book History of the 3d, 7th, 8th and 12th Kentucky C.S.A. relating to Captain Henry A. Tyler of Company A, 12th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment. Captain Tyler was the father of Jack C. Tyler.
