Biographical / Historical Information: John Sevier was the first governor of the State of Tennessee, an office he held from 1796 to 1801 and from 1803 to 1809. He also served in the United States House of Representatives from 1811 until his death in 1815.    

Scope and Content: Collection consists of two stenciled seals used by Governor John Sevier of Tennessee in 1796.
