Biographical / Historical Information: Joel Underwood is believed to have been born in North Carolina about 1807 and died in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1849. It is assumed that he purchased land in the Jackson Purchase and relocated to Calloway County, Kentucky from Wilson County in 1833 and remained until the early 1840s before returning to Tennessee.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of a framed land grant issued by Governor John Breathitt of Kentucky to Joel Underwood at Waidsboro (Wadesboro) in Calloway County on December 31, 1833.
