Biographical / Historical Information: The Barclay and Son Funeral Home was established by L. H. Barclay of Arlington, Kentucky sometime prior to 1935. After the death of L. H. Barclay’s son in World War II, he sold the business to the Basham family in 1945. The Basham family owned and operated the funeral home until the couple’s retirement in 1958. 

Scope and Content: Collection consists of three bound ledgers of funeral records from the Barclay and Son Funeral Home from 1935 to 1945 and the Barclay and Basham Funeral Home from 1945 to 1958. The ledgers contain information such as the name of the deceased, place of death, cause of death, race, occupations, place of birth, cemetery and date of funeral.
