Biographical / Historical Information: Julian Carroll served as Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky from December of 1971 until December 28, 1974. He succeeded Governor Wendell H. Ford when he was elected to the United States Senate. The following year he was elected governor and remained in office until December 11, 1979. Prior to being Lieutenant Governor he served five consecutive terms as McCracken County’s state legislator and was the Speaker of the House from 1968 to 1970.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of a photograph album depicting the inauguration ceremonies of Lieutenant Governor Julian Carroll of Kentucky in December of 1971. Included with the album are Christmas cards from the Carroll family when he was Lieutenant Governor.
