Biographical / Historical Information: Dr. Kurth, a former Rear Admiral in the United States Navy and President of Murray State University from 1990 to 1994, became interested in tobacco patches and barns through his executive secretary, Sharion Adams Meloan, thanks to her family's large, working tobacco farm in Calloway County, KY. The photographs' subjects include barns as well as the various phases of growth of a tobacco patch from start to finish.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of photographs of tobacco barns and plants primarily on the Adams farm, family of Sharion Adams Meloan, former executive secretary to Dr. Ronald J. Kurth, President of Murray State University, 1990-94.
