Historical Information: The Murray State Normal School Board of Regents was formally established by the governor of Kentucky on March 22, 1924. The Board first met on April 14, 1924 and continues to meet regularly to the present day. The Board's primary responsibility is to endorse the concept of shared authority and responsibility in the governance of the institution and provide an advisory role to the president of the university.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of supplementary material associated with the Board of Regents of Murray State Normal School and Murray State Teachers College from 1922 to 1950. The records consist of drafts of meeting minutes, secretary’s notes, reports from the college president and business manager, contracts and agreements with private businesses, correspondence between board members and various records related to the operations of the institution during the formative years of the school. Included in the records are the Credit Committee Reports (1924-1942) and the American Association of Teachers Colleges Accreditation Reports (1935-1942) and the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools of the Southern States Accreditation Reports (1927-1940).
