Historical Information: Governor Julian M. Carroll of Kentucky transferred the administration of the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory at Hopkinsville to Murray State University by signing Executive Order 77-980 on October 25, 1977. Funds were appropriated by the Kentucky State General Assembly for a major capital construction project in early 1978. A new building in Hopkinsville broke ground on May 14, 1981 and was dedicated was dedicated as the Edward T. Breathitt Veterinary Center on November 23, 1982.
Scope and Content: Collection consists of correspondence related to the establishment and construction of the Breathitt Veterinary Center at Hopkinsville, Kentucky from 1977 to 1982. The records include ephemera and memorabilia from the ground breaking and dedication of the building along with press releases from 1986 to 1994.
