Historical Information: The Arts and Music Department was one of the first departments established at Murray State Normal School in 1923. Miss Stella Pennington was the first professor to teach within both disciplines and helped to create a certificate program in Art for students as early as 1929. The department operates a network of three galleries on campus: The Mary Ed Mecoy Gallery, the Clara M. Eagle Gallery and the Eagle Upper Gallery all located in the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building.  

Scope and Content: Correspondence, newspaper clippings, pictures, and ephemera relating to the Arts Department specifically meeting minutes, department brochures and exhibition papers, degree information, postcards and posters, awards and projects on CDs and flash drives.
