Background and General Reference
The Cold War, a time of tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, which drew in the entire world, lasted roughly from 1945-1991. The war built gradually as relations between the two countries became further strained.
Covers the history of protest and revolution over the past 500 years. Presents major uprisings and protest movements, and the ideas, ideologies and activists that propelled them, chronicles the manner in which they unfolded, traces their roots, goals, tactics, and influence, and evaluates their successes and failures.
