Using Library eBooks as Course Textbooks

Information on how to request and use eBooks as textbooks

eBooks at Murray State University Libraries

To make sure any eBook that is adopted as a textbook would be functional for all students, the Libraries require that any eBook vendor we work with

  • offer multiple-user  / unlimited user permissions, allowing all the students in the class to use the eBook at the same time
  • permit downloading and printing , so that students can take content with them when they don't have an Internet connection

Open Educational Resources

An Open Education Resource (OER), or an Open Textbook, can be defined as "textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed."  If you are interested in adopting Open Educational Resource as your course textbook, or just want to learn more about OER, check out the links below.
