eBooks at Murray State University Libraries

To make sure any eBook that is adopted as a textbook would be functional for all students, the Libraries require that any eBook vendor we work with

offer multiple-user / unlimited user permissions, allowing all the students in the class to use the eBook at the same time
permit downloading and printing , so that students can take content with them when they don't have an Internet connection

Outlined here are a number of eBook providers with which the University Libraries has existing relationships. Please take a look at the content available, and contact Cris Ferguson if you have any questions.

The University Libraries own over 50,000 eBook titles published by Springer Nature and they get heavy use by our students. To explore the selection of titles we have purchased from Springer, conduct a search on the SpringerLink platform and narrow the results Content Type Book.
Ebook Central This link opens in a new window
Ebook Central is an aggregator platform, bringing together eBooks on a wide ranges of subjects from a wide variety of publishers. The University Libraries provide access to almost 40,000 titles on the Ebook Central platform. EBooks can be downloaded and read offline on a laptop or eBook reading device.
JSTOR - All Content This link opens in a new window
JSTOR titles are the most recent eBook content acquired by the University Libraries. Currently, the Libraries are providing access to more than 40,000 titles on the JSTOR platform from primarily university presses. To search for relevant content, click into the Advanced Search and restrict the search to the Item Type Books.
Ebsco eBook Collection This link opens in a new window
Like Ebook Central, the Ebsco eBook Collection is an aggregated collection of ebooks covering a wide selection of subjects from a variety of publishers. EBooks can be downloaded and read offline on a laptop or eBook reading device.

If you prefer not to look at the offerings by vendor, you can search the Library Catalog for books, and then limit your results to Full Text Online.

Open Educational Resources

An Open Education Resource (OER), or an Open Textbook, can be defined as "textbooks that have been funded, published, and licensed to be freely used, adapted, and distributed."
