Special Collections and University Archives

Special Collections and Archives contains approximately 10,000 reels of microfilm, including extensive population census records held by the National Archives. While a number of states are represented, the most extensive census holdings are from the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. The microfilm collection also contains the papers of several Kentucky governors, and selected Civil War pension and service files. The microfiche collection consists of American Civil War unit histories, several calendars to the Draper Manuscripts series, directories from the early- to mid-1800's from the Lexington and Louisville areas, and the Shaker Collection of the Western Reserve Historical Society. Most titles are also searchable in University Libraries' online catalog.

Note:
Some microfilm rolls have been pulled from the collection due to vinegar syndrome. These rolls are in the process of being digitized and are currently not accessible. Thank you for your patience!
